We have now finished our Summer 2018 cruise to Haida Gwaii and back, and Pelagia is back in her berth at the Vancouver Rowing Club.
After our enjoyable stay in Sointula, we had an easy cruise down Johnstone Strait, sailing about half of it, with stops in Port Harvey, Cordero Islands, and Owen Bay. After Owen Bay, where crabs were plentiful, we joined the "Desolation" crowds, staying 4 nights at Von Donop Inlet, then 2 nights at Cortes Bay. Water temperatures were as high as 24°C, making for great swimming.
After Cortes Bay, we headed to Ballet Bay, then had an enjoyable sail to Howe Sound, catching the last available mooring buoy at Plumper Cove. One last night at quiet Port Graves, and then a return to Vancouver.
A follow-up post will give more details.
We are constantly torn between the mountains and the sea. This blog is an account of our sailing adventures, both in British Columbia/Haida Gwaii, and to Mexico (2013-2015), as well as our mountain adventures (including skiing in the Winter, hiking in the Summer/Fall, and trekking in Nepal). Hopefully this blog will provide you with helpful information on these topics (in addition to documenting our adventures). Welcome!
