Not really planned, but something we occasionally considered. The crowds of tourists and weekenders in Whistler were always an issue. Our major grocery shopping as well as our family doctor were in Squamish.
But what got us moving was seeing a beautiful 3-bed/3-bath townhouse with great views north and south close to downtown Squamish, all for about the same price of our 1-bedroom in Whistler.

We're now only a 45-minute drive to the boat (in Vancouver) and a 45-minute drive to skiing.
It means a very busy 2-3 weeks....
