We are constantly torn between the mountains and the sea. This blog is an account of our sailing adventures, both in British Columbia/Haida Gwaii, and to Mexico (2013-2015), as well as our mountain adventures (including skiing in the Winter, hiking in the Summer/Fall, and trekking in Nepal). Hopefully this blog will provide you with helpful information on these topics (in addition to documenting our adventures). Welcome!

Hasta la vista Mazatlan; Hola Baja
Finally "escaped" Mazatlan! Left 1030am Thursday and arrived 6pm Friday here in Bahia Los Frailes in Baja Californa Sur. (We were last here in December 2013.)
Arrived just as it became very dark -- lots of other boats anchored -- glad we've been here before and the weather forecast was benign.
A rocking, bouncy (and sometimes uncomfortable) sail across -- but we sailed sailed ALL the way (well, 150 of 160 nm). Close-hauled upwind, Finn our Hydrovane did a fantastic job.

We had planned to follow you Monday, but the forecasts have Changed to call for 4 foot seas on a 4 second period with the increasing pressure gradient down the sea. Perhaps next week for us. . . .
ReplyDeleteHey Rob, it's great to be back here in La Paz!! Yes, it was a bouncy sail (with a little "mal de mer"), but it was a great sail and we didn't have to motor until Frailes.
DeleteBlack Combe opened last weekend. Cold Saturday, but warmed up Sunday immensely. Blue Bird Day. Need snow but early in the season.
ReplyDeleteNot sure who wrote this, but snow at Whistler is sure enticing!!!!!!
